There are two major classes of electric wheel chair lifts available today. One of them is the folding one. With a folding lift, you shall be able to fold and hide the lifting platform when you do not use the lift. The other one is non-folding and this remains visible all the time at the rear end of your car, van or truck. The folding one is generally said to be better in terms of décor since it is a sleeker solution.
For almost all the models and makes of vehicles, you would not find it difficult to locate the right lift. It is suggested that you use a professional to fit the lift since you may not find it too easy to install. Before you decide to get your own electric wheel chair lift, make sure that you understand the insurance coverage for it. Medical and most other insurance companies do not cover these lifts. However, many automobile dealers offer upfront discounts for electric wheel chair lifts if you decide to lease or buy a new vehicle, so ask for it if that is your case.
